Endoscopy

Endoscopy involves evaluation of upper or lower gastrointintestinal track using specialized flexible scopes. Sedation is required and is administered by a member of our certified team of professionals.  Dr. Alvarez has been performing endoscopy since 1987. Most common areas of evaluation are the colon and the esophagus, stomach and duodenum.  The colon evaluation known as colonoscopy is performed, as are all endoscopies, with conscious sedation after a one day fast and colon preparation.  Colonoscopy is recommended for colon cancer screening and evaluation of bleeding or abdominal pain.

EGD, esophagogastroduodenoscopy,  is the endoscopic technique used to evaluate symptoms of heartburn, upper abdominal paindifficulty swallowing, and non-cardiac chest pain.

Scheduling is flexible and includes nights and weekends. The procedure is performed in the comfort and safety of a private office with minimal administrative hassle at significantly lower cost. No risk of hospital acquired infection, wrong site surgery or wasting of your valuable time.  Medicare participants may pay out-of-pocket, as Dr. Alvarez and his staff are dedicated to your safety, comfort and expert evaluation.  Call for an appointment.
