Tickle Liposuction

Dr. Alvarez is excited to offer the latest and safest technique for body sculpting, Custom Acoustic Liposuction also known as Tickle Liposuction!  The procedure is the newest addition to aesthetic services offered and involves the use of mechanical motion along with sound waves during awake, tumescent anesthesia to sculpt and remove those fatty areas that never seem to go away! Tumescent anesthesia involves infiltration of the desired area with a saline and lidocaine solution which helps break-up the fat mass and numb the tissues. This FDA approved technique is unique and has been used in Europe since 1997 and in the USA since 2009.  It is a significant improvement over traditional liposuction under general anesthesia and is considerably more affordable.

Traditional liposuction results in significant trauma and bruising with prolonged recovery and potentially significant complications.  The search for more refined and safer procedures led to the use of Laser technology which uses heat to break up the fat mass.  Laser lipo has been successfully used for many years.  However, the application of heat is uncomfortable and can potentially result in significant burns and prolonged recovery.

Tickle Liposuction is the next improvement and uses ultrasonic energy generated by a special thin straw-like cannula which is used for tumescent local anesthesia and efficient breakdown and removal of the fat mass.  The action of custom acoustic liposuction desensitizes nerves and produces  a tickle-like sensation that results in actual laughter in about 30% of clients.  Thus, the popular designation of "Tickle" Liposuction.

Recovery is smooth, with the client walking and returning home soon after the procedure.  Over the counter pain medication is all that is usually required!  There is minimal bruising and short "down" time.  The 3 mm incisions require minimal care post-operatively.  Compression garments are used for several weeks to help shrink and tighten the skin.  Results are noticeable within hours and full effect is present in about 6 months.

Liposuction of any kind is not designed as a weight loss procedure but is for body sculpting and shaping.  The ideal candidate is a healthy, non-smoker with stubborn pockets of fat that do not respond to diet and exercise.  
Tickle Lipo can be combined with skin removal to achieve a "tummy tuck."  Abdominal sculpting is but one area that can be addressed.  The neck, chest, arms,flanks, hips, thighs and even ankles can be sculpted!
The fat removed can be used to inject as a dermal or soft tissue filler and there is significant interest in processing the fat for stem cells to inject into joints.
